Overview

The Da’naxda’xw Nation is a First Nation government located on a remote island of the Great Bear Rainforest, off the coast of northern Vancouver Island of British Columbia, Canada. Their recently implemented energy system is comprised of solar generation, battery storage, and a backup diesel generator.

Magna IV Engineering was engaged by Hakai Energy Solutions to implement smart generator controls to load share and synchronize power.

Scope
  • Design engineering review

  • Power system modelling

  • Load Flow, short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash studies for the project

  • Product specification and engineering support for the implementation of ComAp controllers with the capability to load share and synchronize to PV supplied renewable power and a battery storage system

  • Field engineering support during construction

  • Commissioning
