Magna’s Certified Fiber Optic Technicians terminating cables
Overview
Suncor’s McKay River site is an in situ, Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) oil sands operation in Northern Alberta. Magna IV Engineering was engaged to facilitate the full fiber optic system integration, as part of a communications upgrade at the site. Magna’s Certified Fiber Optic Technicians provided cable installation, termination, and testing.
Scope
Multi-mode fiber cable installation at wellhead junction boxes
Cable splicing at marshalling cabinets
Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing of the multimode fiber was performed to verify continuity, and integrity of the splices.
Single-mode fiber reel testing
Up to 144-strand single- and multi-mode fiber optic cables
All terminations within industry standards and best practices
