Magna IV Engineering has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate/Sr. Electrical Field Services Technician/Technologist for our Houston office. Reporting to the Technical Field Services Client Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable to lead project teams on field projects; ultimately providing exceptional client service through commissioning, repair and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment.
Lead project teams effectively through collaboration, support, and team focus
Work safely and effectively on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of environments, including commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining, pipeline and oil and gas
Commissioning, repair and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment including circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, etc.
Confidently work with various brands of test and troubleshooting equipments
Complete technical report writing
Manage complex projects and delegate responsibilities to Field Service personnel
Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner
Identify and implement process improvements
Various other duties as required
Possesses 5+ years’ experience as an Electrical Technologist / Field Technician / Power Systems Electrician
Possesses 5+ years of leadership experience in a technical field environment
Relevant experience in maintenance, repair, rebuild and troubleshooting of transformers, protective relays and circuit breakers
Proficient knowledge of the principles behind the test equipment used and a basic understanding of power systems
Experience in the Installation, commissioning and start-up of power equipment
Experience working with automation & control systems in the power and utilities market
Possesses hands-on field experience in commissioning, testing or maintaining power delivery equipment; including breakers, switchgear, relays, and transformers
Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and utility environments
Experience working with ANSI Standards
Ability to travel nationally and internationally- approximately 50% overnight travel
Required Skills and Qualifications
2 year degree or equivalent working experience, required
Trade or technical school certification, required
PSE (Power Systems Electrician) or AT (Associate Engineering Technologist) and NETA (International Electrical Testing Association) certification, preferred
Must have a valid driver's license
Career-minded individual with proven initiative, client focus and attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical skills
Must be able to work in a dynamic work environment
Excellent time management skills (able to work with minimal supervision)
Able to work flexible hours that might include weekends, evenings and holidays
