Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a High Voltage Cable Termination Specialist. The successful candidate will ideally be located in in either Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton but could also reside anywhere in Western Canada. Reporting to the Technical Field Services Client Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable to support project teams and field projects; ultimately providing exceptional client service through repair and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment.
Accountabilities
Repair, Terminate and troubleshoot low, medium and high voltage power cables. Installations to include heat shrink and cold shrink. Pfisterer termination experience is an asset.
Work safely and effectively on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of environments, including commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining, pipeline and oil and gas
Testing and diagnosis of cable health via DC, VLF / Tan Delta and Partial Discharge Test methods
Confidently work with various brands of test and troubleshooting equipment
Complete technical report writing
Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner
Identify and implement process improvements
Various other duties as required
Required Skills and Qualifications
4th year or Journeyman Electrician and/or Power Lineman or;
PSE (Power Systems Electrician) or;
Hands-on experience with electrical maintenance (low to high voltage power) is an asset
Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and utility environments
Trade or tech school certification required
Must have a valid drivers license
Ability to self manage with proven initiative and client focus
Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Must be able to work in a dynamic work environment
Excellent time management skills with an attention to detail
The ability to travel to remotes sites, work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays
Team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
A positive, “can-do” attitude
