Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to help support our Canadian and USA Operations. Reporting to the Global Health and Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be based at Power Solutions Group office located in Tipp City, OH and is a role within the Training, Development and Safety Solutions Team. This position will be accountable for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that promote industry leading performance and support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of Magna IV Engineering Group of Companies.

Accountabilities

Strategic Planning

  • ·Translate corporate and departmental strategies and initiatives into personal objectives that incorporate HSE excellence, career development and cost control

Emergency Planning and Response

  • Assist the Leadership team with the execution and assessment of tabletop and emergency response exercises

  • As required, serve as the HSE Officer during emergency response and recovery events

Health and Safety Management Programs

  • Coach and mentor workers on matters that support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of Magna IV Engineering Group of Companies

  • Facilitate the resolution of health and safety program gaps

  • Support the continuous improvement of health and safety programs

  • Support the development of occupational health and safety plans, hazard assessments monitor safety plans

Cost Management

  • Ensure cost is a focus when planning work, training, projects, and travel

  • Provide assigned groups with financial impacts of health and safety projects to assist them with annual budgeting

Performance Measures

  • Support operations during emergency situations

  • Maintain visibility with all Magna IV personnel

  • Develop and deliver training when required (program rollout, etc.)

  • Provide employees with training validation as required

  • Participate in and lead incident investigations

  • Participate in regulatory compliance and conformance reviews

  • Participate in planned workplace inspections

  • Support the leadership team during safety meetings

  • Assess the purchase of equipment related to HSE

  • Participate in operations planning meetings

  • Participate in incident review meetings to bring attention to aging reports, updates, and accountability gaps

  • Provide leadership support with performance measures on a scheduled basis:

  • Incidents (aging, open, trending, …)

  • Core training and conformance

  • Task observations

  • Unassigned corrective or preventative actions

  • Open audit Items

  • Unresolved / unassigned safety issues


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience practicing in the Health and Safety discipline

  • Preferable industries include: Industrial Construction or Maintenance Environments

  • Post secondary education in related HSE field of study is required

  • NCSO, CRSP, CSP, NEBOSH, CIH professional designations or ongoing work to obtain professional designation required

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

  • Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and prioritize workload through outstanding organizational skills

  • Setting work schedule and activities in a coordinated manner

  • COR Audit certification is an asset

  • Excellent time management skills with an outstanding attention to detail and observation skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Dedicated to providing exceptional client experiences to our internal and external clients

  • Must be able to travel to client sites

  • Must have a valid drivers’ license

  • A positive, “can-do” attitude, is highly self-motivated, energetic, passionate and reliable
