Job Duties:

• Repair, Terminate and troubleshoot low, medium and high voltage power cables. Installations to include heat shrink and cold shrink.

• Prepare and Install Connex Plug-In style terminations up to Size 4 (69kV)

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex cable systems including PILC (Paper Insulated Lead      Covered Cable) and Connex Cable.

• Testing and diagnosis of cable health via DC, VLF / Tan Delta and Partial Discharge      Test methods

• Work safely and effectively on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of  environments, including commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining,  pipeline and oil and gas.

• Work in confined spaces, including manholes, to complete cable repairs, termination, and      re-routing.

• Train and Mentor other members of the team to become subject matter experts in the field of      cable Jointing

• Confidently work with various brands of test and troubleshooting equipment

• Write technical reports based on the findings made out in the field

• Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner to help build Magna’s      reputation as a premium cable termination and jointing provider.

• Identify and implement process improvements

• Various other  duties as required

Number of Positions:  One

Terms of Employment: Full-time Permanent

Wage/Salary: $52.50 per hour

Location of Work: Primary location of Edmonton, Alberta with projects across Alberta – Limited project work in B.C. may be required.

Education Required: Trade or tech school certification or equivalent required.

Work Experience: 10+ years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician and/or Electrical Technologist/Field Technician or equivalent. Additional experience includes:

• PSE (Power Systems Electrician) is an asset

• High voltage cable termination experience (up to      35kv)

• Hands-on experience with electrical maintenance      (low to high voltage power)

• Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and      utility environments

• Experience training team members on all aspects      of high voltage (up to 33kv) jointing, including statutory regulations,      safe operations, protection and fault diagnosis

• Pfisterer training certificate required for the      following accessories:

• 33kV Connex size 1

• 42kV Connex size 2

• Up to 52kV Connex size 3/3S

• 52kV Connex size 3XL
