Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Electronics Service Technician in our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Manager of ESD, the successful candidate will be accountable to calibrate, service, and repair, with minimal supervision, a variety of high, medium and low voltage equipment.

Accountabilities

Calibrations

Calibrate, with minimal supervision, high, medium and low voltage equipment including but not limited to:

  • Ductors, relay test sets, highpots, C bridges, ratio meters, Insulation testers,phasing      equipment, fault locating equipment, cable locating equipment, recorders  and analyzing equipment, power supplies and testers, hospital test equipment, analog/digital multimeters, clamp meters, temperature meters,  ground sets and safety equipment

  • Function test of  equipment

  • Organise calibration or repair services with 3rd party vendors when required

Maintenance

  • Perform basic  maintenance on test equipment including but not limited to:

  • Fuse inspection and replacement

  • Cable/accessory inspection, cleaning, repair or replacement

  • Equipment cleaning internal/external

  • Develope and update maintenance procedures and records, including listing of  parts required for maintenance, manuals and schematics.

  • Assist with the development and manufacturing of replacement parts when originals are      unavailable

  • Source components and parts required for defective units on repair jobs

Manufacturing/Development

  • Assist with manufacturing of testing equipment for internal use or for sale.

  • Source electronic components for development and research

Additional Duties and Involvement

Troubleshooting assistance with on-site problems with equipment

  • Finding solutions for test issues

  • Help deducting reasons for failure of components/equipment on job sites (Installed client equipment not test equipment)

  • Help technicians understand limitations of our equipment and finding solutions      around those.

  • Communicating with clients to recall overdue equipment and arrange service appointments      in the shop and on site

  • Help maintain on site inventory of spare parts

  • Help with ordering consumables

  • Organise national and international shipments when required

  • Perform local deliveries and pickups when required

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years in the field of electronics or electrical manufacturing or repair would be ideal

  • Completed or working towards  a Bachelor of Science/Electronics or Electrical Technician of Technologist      and relevant field experience

  • Ability to multi-task,  exercise good judgment and prioritize workload through outstanding      organizational skills

  • Excellent time management skills with an outstanding attention to detail and observation skills

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • A positive, “can-do” attitude, highly self-motivated, energetic, passionate and reliable

  • Able to stand and kneel for long periods, lift up to 50lbs and work from heights

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license
